The Duluth XC Ski Club (DXC) operates the Spirit Mountain Nordic Center at the top of Spirit Mountain under an agreement with the City of Duluth and Spirit Mountain.  DXC is responsible for maintaining and staffing the Nordic Center and coordinating its use by various user groups.  The Spirit Mountain Nordic Center is located at 9535 W. Skyline Parkway, Duluth MN 55810.

 

In order to offset some of the expenses, Spirit has established the following

trail fees, which now consists of a combined season pass for both the upper Spirit Mountain Nordic trails AND the Grand Avenue Nordic Center trails at the bottom of Spirit Mountain (Grand Avenue Nordic Center is located at the Grand Avenue Chalet, at 8551 Grand Avenue, Duluth MN 55808):

Once the upper trails are open, daily passes can be purchased at the Nordic Center Chalet, using cash or check.  Online daily pass purchase will also be available.  Season passes will only be available to purchase online, at Grand Avenue Chalet, or at the Upper Alpine Chalet.

 

The Spirit Mountain Nordic Center Chalet is staffed by volunteers, and as such, hours are subject to change at anytime. However, it is generally open to visitors from 10AM to 5PM daily.

DXC depends primarily on volunteers to keep this facility and the trails in good condition.  The Spirit Mountain trails do not receive Grant-in-Aid funding from the state for their upkeep, so the financial responsibility lies with DXC and the City of Duluth.  DXC regularly grooms the Spirit Mountain trails.  Groomers are both volunteers and paid professionals paid by DXC. We have made investments in new grooming equipment to create a great ski experience.
