Adult Birkie Training Group Leader/Coach
Reports To: DXC Exec. Dir.
Description Summary & Essential Functions

Co-lead a weekly (15 weeks) adult training group geared towards preparing participants for the Birkie or Korte ski races in February. Aid in the recruitment and retention of participants.

Implement the program’s training plan with partner coach on a weekly basis. This includes leading warm-ups, core and specific-strength work, intervals and warm-downs. Understanding the purposes of each of these is key.

Plan, determine and modify training plans and locations dependent on weather, snow conditions and participant response.

Organize equipment used for training sessions.

Communicate with participants regarding changes to venue, timing and content.

Be present at 13 of the 15 Monday sessions from Nov 10th – Feb. 16th.
Experience / Requirements

Must be skilled in skate and classic techniques and be able to demonstrate those skills to your skiers.

Must be skilled in and understand core strengthening techniques, specific-strength techniques and various interval modalities both on snow and off snow.

Must be able to assess the techniques of your skiers and aid them in correcting any bad habits.

Must be always highly organized, in all circumstances and courteous when under pressure.

Must have strong communication skills, motivational skills and interpersonal skills. Including being positive and motivational to all ability levels.
Physical Requirements (have to put it in there)

Must be able to stand on skis for extended periods, run, reach, walk, bend and stoop.

Must be able to ascend and descend terrain and navigate uneven and or slippery terrain on skis.

Must be able to tolerate cold temperatures, at times below 0°F. However, sessions will likely be canceled if temperatures go below -5°F
Reimbursements/ Compensation:
$17/hour for 1.75 hrs per session x 15 weeks
