Wednesday Night Race Series

Wednesdays @ 6:30 p.m.| Late December - Late February

Join DXC for a weekly race! Racing is open to all ages and abilities and DXC encourages anyone and everyone to participate. Whether you are a seasoned racer or someone who is just learning how to ski, come out and have some fun on Wednesday nights.

All racers must complete a Wednesday Night Race Series Registration. This single registration will work for any and all races in the series.

Program Overview

Distance + Style

Race distance varies week to week. Usually 4k to 6k distance. Race technique will vary between Classic and Skate from week to week, depending on snow conditions and weather.

This year, DXC will again offer two classes at each race: Recreational and Competitive. The Recreational class will generally be a bit shorter (usually 3 to 4 kilometers instead of 4 to 6 kilometers), but will otherwise be the same format. Racers may switch between categories throughout the season, and may earn points in either or both.

Wednesday 6:30PM

Racing will begin as soon as we have snow, and will continue each Wednesday until February 21, 2024, dependent on snow conditions. Later Wednesdays in March may be used as “make-up” days for races canceled due to snow conditions, cold weather, etc.

Race venues will rotate each week, with Spirit Mountain Nordic Center, Lester Park and Snowflake being the primary locations.   Will will update this list as the schedule grows!

12/13/23 - Spirit Mountain Nordic Center (Skate) - Meet at lower chalet

12/20/23 - Spirit Mountain Nordic Center (Skate) - Meet at lower chalet

12/27/23 - Rainout :(

1/3/2024 - Spirit Mountain Nordic Center (Skate) - Meet at lower chalet

What you need

  • A Trail Pass for the race trail, if one is required.

  • A completed Wednesday Night Race Series registration (this gets you into the whole series with one signed waiver; race once or every time with just one registration)

  • A headlamp. Upper parts of Spirit Mountain Nordic Center and between lights at other trails might make a headlamp useful.

Points System

All finishers will receive points in descending order depending on the number of racers. At the end of the season, the top three overall men and women will receive a prize. The male and female racers who attend the most races will also receive a prize.
